The XPhone Virtual Directory 2011 directory service works like a central company address book and ensures that contact data is displayed in standardised formats in applications and end devices. Regardless of where the data comes from. Installation, set-up and administration are conceivably simple.
The XPhone Virtual Directory 2011 setup wizard helps you to add a new data source - fast and easily.
Field links already configured help you to set up new data sources even faster, e.g. Microsoft Active Directory, personal and public Outlook contact folders on your Exchange server, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Use the setup wizard to incorporate practically any data source available.
XPhone Virtual Directory 2011 includes default allocation diagrams for allocating the fields of frequently used data sources and client interfaces. And if this is not enough, you can simply allocate the data base fields by drag & drop. Entirely without previous programming knowledge.
You can allocate one or more fields from the data source to a field in the XPhone Virtual Directory. For example, you can allocate the Form of address, First name and Last name fields to the Display name field. Or create a combined phone number field from separate phone number fields with country code, area code and business number.
New end devices and applications can be set up just as easily as linking new data sources which can access the address data provided by XPhone Virtual Directory. A setup wizard supports you when adding new client interfaces and guides you through the setup in only a few steps. Entirely without any expert knowledge, you can set up your own LDAP server at a few clicks of the mouse. If you wish, several parallel instances can even be set up on various ports.
You can link the following end devices and applications with XPhone Virtual Directory:
You can specify which users or user groups and which end devices and applications are authorised to access the data sources. Define the regulations governing access to the data sources. Allow access by all users, authenticated users only or anonymous users, or grant access to users and groups from your Active Directory. You can even restrict access to the IP address area. For example, access from telephones within a VLAN.
Default configurations are already available for frequently used end devices and applications. This makes setup even faster.
XPhone Virtual Directory supports Windows authentication. This means that users are automatically identified as soon as they log on at their computer.
Original data is not replicated in the XPhone Virtual Directory data base. To ensure that data remains current in the index, you can use the start and stop time as well as an interval of your choice to specify when and how often XPhone Virtual Directory 2011 should automatically update the index.
You can specify the week days and times at which the XPhone Virtual Directory data base index is to be updated. The index comprises the indexed fields of all data records read from the linked data sources. The XPhone Virtual Directory data base uses this index to find data in the linked data sources faster when searches are initiated. As the search result, users do not receive the data from the index but rather the original data from the linked data source.
Recurring search queries are buffered by the integrated cache. This provides users with even faster access to the relevant information and the original data sources are not burdened unnecessarily.
You can specify one dialling parameter per data source or client interface with which XPhone Virtual Directory 2011 automatically completes phone numbers as required. These dialling parameters are used to put contact phone numbers from various data sources in a standardised format. This ensures that users always find the right contact data. Simply ingenious: This does not require changing the phone numbers in the original data. All standard phone number formats are recognised, so to speak.
Integrated real-time statistics provide information on the activity of individual modules in the XPhone Virtual Directories.
The configuration settings of a data source or client interface can be exported and imported.
